Happy New Year! It’s 2017 and the start of another new year. I love this time of year because it’s a time to start fresh.
2016 was a great year for our family in so many ways, but it was also quiet challenging. I am hoping 2017 will be bright and less challenging both personally and globally.
There was less time to spend on Gingham Red this year due to work and personal commitments, including renovating the house (with us doing all the hard manual labour I should add), managing teenage boys and their schooling, sports, as well as everything else in between.
In previous years I’ve used January to announce what to expect on the blog during the year. This time I’ll only announce that the alphabet sampler I have been working on for sometime will be released as soon as I have worked out how to produce the chart and images in iBooks. I’m halfway through the book, so fingers crossed not much longer to wait.
This year I will also add illustrations and other needlework projects to the blog. I’d like create a few handmade pieces for the shop. 2017 is a year to explore art and embroidery and have some fun along the way. I hope to blog about once a week this year. You can also tune in with me daily on instagram at https://www.instagram.com/ginghamred/.
I wish you and your families a very happy New Year ahead!
In the meantime we are enjoying our week away in Portland Victoria to refresh and recharge our batteries. We’ve been to Portland for week long summer vacation for six years now and this year is lovely as always. There is time to draw, go for walks along the beach with the pugs and relax.
Today’s illustration is Sally and her naughty cat Max. Stay posted for this week’s illustrations featuring girls and their cats. You can see them every day on the Gingham Red instagram account otherwise they will all be featured in next week’s blog post.
See you next week!
